What an amazing place and amazing group of people. My husband and I adopted two kitten brothers that were rescued by Sante Dor when they were tiny babies. They were bottle fed and raised by their foster parent Jody with love, care, and experience. And being first time cat parents, our coordinator Morgan really held our hands through out the whole process, she is always SO patient, helpful, and knowledgeable with all-cat-related things!! We also got help from Heather and Amy, when we thought one of our boys got seriously sick (when it turned out that he just ate too fast and got nauseous…..silly boy) and brought him in, the ladies were real pros handling him and checking him out. They calmly and pleasantly comforted us and eased our nerves. I really can’t express how much we appreciate them all. On the way back, my husband was urging me to write a nice review, so here I am, and we almost never leave a review for anything! Anyways, WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND SANTE DOR TO ANYONE WHO’S LOOKING TO ADOPT.

This is such a special place and I appreciate how there is a safe haven for kitties! My friend and I had a great afternoon playing with the cats. You can easily tell that the staff/volunteers take such good care of the cats and are closely attuned to each one’s unique personalities. You can drop in when they’re open and after putting on some hand sanitizer, you’re given a brief orientation of the protocols. If you want to play with the kittens, note that you can only pick one. There are three sections where there are kittens and a bunch of adult cats frolicking around. You can adopt if you’re interested or simply come for some kitty therapy. It’s free to enter and there’s metered parking available.

I visited in May 2023 and donated to this brilliant sanctuary. Highly recommend donating anything anyone can to raise funds for all those currently displaced. I still remember this beautiful cat below, so huge and amazing markings.

Adopted two cats from them! They have a serious approach towards who they allow to become cat parents and conduct home inspections to ensure your cat will be safe and remain indoors.

I have been volunteering at Sante Dor for about a year, and adopted my girl Starlene, formerly known as Suna, in November. First, on volunteering: It’s an awesome rescue where the cats live good lives, even the ones who go unadopted year after year have a good family right at the rescue. It is easy to accommodate volunteering as you sign up for shifts whenever you want - there is no minimum commitment so it works well if you have a busy schedule, although there are also those who choose to do regular times. There is a shift leader who will direct you through feeding, cleaning etc. On adopting: I met Suna while I was volunteering, she had been fostered since she was a kitten by Sante Dor and is two now. She had a congenital liver issue that they had taken her to multiple vets to diagnose and come up with a treatment plan. They had thorough paperwork of all of her past medical work and gave me the truth about what this might mean for her future. The adoption process has several steps to ensure a good match and education of the pet parent to be. You won’t bring a cat home the same day but you will bring them home for a lifetime.
